It's the Mirrors...

this might be the worst blog i've ever written but [ it's ok] .

i'm in a las vegas airport right now and i can't help but look around and think, "wow , these are some ugly people!". yea i know that sounds like a terrible thing to say but i'm just trying to be honest [ i personally think i'm pretty-ugly myself] . the thing that i just keep hearing in my spirit is "we are made in the image of God"...and so i feel really convicted and i've actually learned alot in these last three hours in this extremely humid airport. i've learned how to look at people through the eyes [ though it is highly impossible to enter into it's fullness] of God the creator.

and then it got me thinking some more. and a really wierd thought came into my mind- "what if mirrors didn't exist?". wouldn't life be so much funner [ gramatically incorrect, but it's cool] without mirrors? if i didn't have to spend hours walking in and out of my bathroom to check if the mountains on my face have disappeared, now wouldn't that be cool? if there weren't mirrors, we wouldn't have to spend all this money on our clothes and hair products, which in effect would allow us to spend our money on more important things, like more ps3 games [ joke ] . [ stupid joke ] .

ugly people have fun:

they jump on trampolines and let their hair get frizzled.

they go to the beach even if they're not fit.

they wear shoes with holes on them. [ good joke ] .

they fall in love.

they eat barbeque ribs with their hands.

in conclusion: life would be so much FUNNER without mirrors. and we would all be beautiful ...

the truth is that we are all beautiful once we realize that we are the Master Painter's work...

Unfortunately for “ugly” people looking into a mirror cannot help. A mirror tells the truth.

There was a Biblical mirror placed in the outer court of the Tabernacle called the laver of brass. After serving the sacrifice on the Brazen Altar the priests had to wash their hands (what you do) and feet (your walk) removing all defilement before entering into the Holy Place to worship God. They had to look into their reflection on the polished brass laver and see themselves as they were.

Exodus 38:8 (KJV) reads; “And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it as brass, of the lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.” That word ‘lookingglasses’ is translated in Hebrew as ‘vision, mode of revelation and mirror.’ In Old Testament times mirrors were made of mixed metals and polished with admirable skill. The godly women that surrendered their mirrors were more concerned with serving the Lord than looking at themselves. An example of one such woman was Anna the prophetess of Luke 2:36-38 who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers and her reward was to look into her Saviors face as Mary brought the baby Jesus to the temple. It’s not about looking at ourselves, but looking at Jesus!

That is the true reflection every Christian should see in a mirror and the reflection that the body of Christ should reveal to the world. Romans 8:19 reminds us that all creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Ephesians 5:26 reads; “That he [Jesus] might sanctify it [church] with the washing of water by the word,” That word ‘water’ translated in Greek is ‘laver.’ Also that word ‘word’ translated in Greek is ‘rhema.’ Rhema is the revealed Word of God and only with this revealed Word is Christ able to cleanse the church and then she will be able to look at herself in the mirror. The Bible is the mirror that reflects our sin and also the very laver that washes it away.

A mirror reveals and reflects. Standing before a mirror we see ourselves as we are. A mirror cannot lie unless it’s warped like those funny houses of mirrors at the carnivals. (And you know who warps things in the spiritual realm!) The Word of God is that divine mirror that shows us how “ugly” we really are. Now you can see why so many spiritually ugly people contradict the Bible because like a mirror it shows them how ugly they really are!

God is not interested in our outward beauty, but on the inward spirit man. 1 Peter 3:4 reminds us that God is interested in the hidden man of the heart, which is in His sight of great price.

The first Adam was made in the image and likeness of God. He was an exact duplication of God on earth and he must have been a spectacular physical specimen. He could recite with total confidence; “Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who’s the fairest of them all?” But when he fell from grace he became “ugly” with sin.

This is where the last Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ, came to restore mankind to its rightful place back inside the garden. After all Jesus is THE WAY, the truth and the life. If you notice the horrible sight of Christ on the cross, naked, broken, bloody, and battered you will see a reflection of man’s spiritual state. Jesus became sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) He became poor that we through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9) He was showing us the “ugly” spiritual state mankind was in and how after His resurrection, we who are in Him, would have a new glorified body, restored back to perfect beauty like the first Adam once was.

Ephesians 2:10 says that we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder says one catch phrase. Well, we are his masterpiece, and that’s looking at us through Gods flawless eyes!

1 Corinthians 13:12 reads; “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” Ancient mirrors were somewhat dim made of polished metal, but NOW we have seen perfection in Christ and that is the image we must reflect.

As Christians we should be mirror images of our Lord Jesus Christ and reflect His beauty to an “ugly” world. Is that what our hearts reflect? Solomon wrote in Proverbs 27:19; “As in water face answers to face, so the heart of man to man.”

Yes, brother Noel, IT’S THE MIRRORS!
