Effort

"Now we cannot . . . discover our failure to keep God's law except by trying our very hardest (and then failing). Unless we really try, whatever we say there will always be at the back of our minds the idea that if we try harder next time we shall succeed in being completely good. Thus, in one sense, the road back to God is a road of moral effort, of trying harder and harder. But in another sense, it is not trying that is ever going to bring us home. All this trying leads up to the vital moment at which you turn to God and say, "you must do this. I can't."
C.S Lewis, Mere Christianity

"Many things - such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly - are done worst when we try hardest to do them."
C.S Lewis, Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Literature

Is this a C.S.Lewis Blog or does Jesus Christ and His Word still get top billing?

There is no doubt that C.S. Lewis was a man of God. And although he died at 65 years of age his purpose on earth was admirably fulfilled. His writings were for that time, and albeit we can learn from those lessons our God is always moving forward. (See Ezekiel chapter 1 and in particular verse 9, 12 that says the spirit goes straight forward.)
Today the Holy Spirit has so many things to say to His people.
Jesus wants to raise modern day C.S. Lewis' that hear His voice and proclaim new revelations that edify His people.
Let's send our Father in heaven some "knee-mail" and receive from Him in return. Then let’s post it on this wonderful blog and bless the nations!
In my book Jesus Christ rocks! As a matter of fact, He is the Rock!
